Giveaway Ended
It is 105 today in Richmond, and while going to the pool is an option, my daughter and I decided to stay in the air conditioning and have a summer beauty heart-to-heart.
We decided to document this in an interview style so she can come back to this for reference and comparison in years to come. I am sure both of our opinions on do’s and don’ts will change dramatically. Her questions are marked in purple!
Best Fashion tips at the beaches:†While I do not go shopping each year for a new supply of swimwear I do find it important to have two good fitting suits that you can interchange to create different looks. †Also, If you have hair long enough to fit in a pony tail, do so, otherwise you will have fly-away unmanageable hair by the end of the day. †Also try to keep your toes nicely pedicured!
Would you rather have a Bikini or Tankini and why?
That is a great question and it really depends on what I am doing that day. If I plan on being in the water with your brothers or doing water sports, a Tankini is preferable. †Don’t want to have a wardrobe foul while at the beach. †When traveling with Dad, I like the idea of a bikini and remembering my younger days!! Wear them while you can is my attitude!
Would you rather hang out at the pool or beach?
This is a tough answer. Since we don’t have a beach we can visit regularly, I do enjoy spending time there when given the opportunity. †Bring some baby powder to get that stubborn sand off you though! Enjoy a nice cushioned seat at the pool for a break while at the beach!
Stay hydrated while at the pool or beach. If you have access to cool water and a small towel, dampen the towel and wrap around your neck to cool off. †Also stay under an umbrella and protect that young face of yours as much as you can, you will thank me later. I used to put baby oil on my face and body, check out these brown spots!
| Try not to bury yourself in the beach to stay cool, leave that to the boys. |
This is a great question and I’m glad you are asking me at a young age. It is so important to have a quality razor like Venus Embrace†that will help you avoid cutting your legs and leaving scars. †It has a soft grip handle for great control which is very helpful, especially as you learn to shave. †With interchangeable razor blade refills, these are much better than the disposable razors I grew up with.
Please don’t use soap and water or shampoo, something I did when I started shaving. You can go use my†Satin Care Passionista Fruit Shave Gel to help provide a smooth shaving surface! †Great fruity smell too! Venus has some great tips for moms of first-time shavers over here.
Now here is a beauty tip for my readers.

I am a tightwad and will so anything to save a penny. Making sure I get every last bit of lip balm out of a tube backfired on me when I put the left overs I had scraped out on my heels and it was purple!! Stained them bright fuchsia!!! Even after three showers they are still a tad pink! LOL

Wash your face every night!
If you have even the slightest idea your skin might be sensitive do a patch test before using a new product. I didn’t and broke out head to toe from a new soap I used in the shower.

I have alot of food allergies that range rom very mild to severely allergic, like deathly to nuts. Some of my allergies only flare up if I eat too much of something…or come in to contact with it. I put cucumbers on my eyes to reduce bags and forgot that they were on my mildly allergic list! When I took them off my eyes had swelled shut
My daughter and I enjoyed the post! Sunscreen is a must!
Make up should enhance your beauty not create it.

Water has to be the best beauty tip I have tried to get into my 4 year old daughter
I try to lead by example too! Water and sunscreen are our best beauty products!!
A MISHAP: Just yesterday, I was looking forward to shaving with a new cartridge on my shaver. After giving a few strokes on my underarm, I noticed that there was NO changes. I tried again and again, but no change. Frustrated I peered at it closely only to find I’d installed the cartidge upside down

My best advice for my daughter is that if she wants to keep looking young when she’s my age, she’d better use sunscreen, moisturizer, and not too heavy on make up.
Went through this all with my twin sisters already and they are almost sixteen now. We had a moment earlier this month when they insisted that they wanted to wax instead and nothing I would say would get them to budge. So I let them. OMG! The entire salon knew what was going on and one of them was bawling uncontrollably and asking me why I hated her so much while the other insisted they were going to get me back for it. They are laughing about it now, but insist they are done with waxing– forever.

My tip for her is try to minimize your caffeine intake during hot days. It can increase the chance for dehydration.

I don’t have a daughter, but I have a niece and I tell her to always drink lots and lots of water!
use lots of sunscreen
My daughter is only 4, so the best tip I have given her so far is to wear sunblock and stay in the shade when possible (we live in scorching hot Texas.) cristimarashi(at)gmail(dot)com
Funniest beauty mishap – well now it is. I was about 15 and used a bleach kit to get my hair to orange but I only reached the middle of the back of my head. That was expensive to fix!

One beauty tip I’ve shared with my daughter:
Apply a light moisturizing sunscreen to your face daily after washing with a very mild soap and water.

Always use sunscreen!
I love her responses! So cute! We realized my tween needed to shower more often this summer so that was some very necessary advice!
Drink lots of water
I don’t have a daughter, but my best tip is use sunscreen and reapply often. Even if you think your clothes are covering it, wet saggy clothes happen and skin is exposed and if there’s no sunscreen, it will get burnt!

my mishap: i was at the water park with my family and we were in the lazy river when a boy around the age of 10 came up to me and said “uh mam” and pointed at my chest… to my horror i noticed that my swim suit strap had come unclasped and my left breast was exposed… fortunately i had on a white tshirt over my swim suit but it was still embarrassingly noticeable. needless to say, i don’t wear that swim suit anymore! clallen at ntin dot net
Always apply sunscreen! That’s my first tip as well. eclairre(at)ymail(dot)com
