Fleas and Ticks and Pets OH MY !

This post is sponsored about Fleas and ticks by Bayer / Seresto and the Pet Blogger Network. If you are an animal owner fleas and ticks are in your vocabulary. Fleas definitely worry me but knock on wood have never been a menace (watch now we will have them) but Ticks really scare me. We live near the woods and we find ticks on ourselves as well as our pets way too often.

While I use a monthly application for my dog as she lives in the house, I sometimes forget to apply it to my cat until after a few days. This is even worse because in the summer she spends most of her time outside. We have to pick her up and physically bring her into the garage. She is a southern weather animal.

I remember when our previous cat, who also became an outdoor cat, had at least 4 ticks on her and they were fully expanded, this was so gross and I am sure this lead to her early departure from us. With this in mind, I am excited to be trying one of the Bayer/ Seresto brand flea and tick collars . As you can see we get up close and personal with her as seen in these Cat Bearding shots.

Not only do I worry about my pets being bit by a tick or flea, but if they don’t find a friendly atmosphere on our pet, they will have no trouble crawling on our family and biting us. According to Petparents.com, Ticks also act as vectors of disease. Infected ticks can carry and spread the organisms that can cause Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, several types of ehrlichiosis, and other potentially deadly diseases. A single tick can carry several disease-causing organisms at the same time. GROSS>  Fleas can lead to skin problems, intestinal parasites, and Anemia.

This is what I am most excited about when trying this new flea and Tick product on Lacey.

  • No need to remember monthly applications
  • Continuous supply of active ingredients released in low concentrations ensures reliable 8-month protection
  • Non-greasy, odorless, easy-to-use
  • KILLS fleas
  • REPELS and KILLS ticks
If a tick is repelled or killed, it cannot attach to your dog or at and transmit organisms that may cause disease.
  • Water-resistant-if she spends time in the rain
  • Available in three sizes: Large dog, small dog or cat

Some things are obvious like providing your animal with the right food, giving them the right amount of excercise, taking them to the vet annually and preventing fleas and ticks should be on that list too.

How do you help prevent fleas and ticks on your cat or dog?

  3. We had a huge issue with fleas and ticks when we lived in Maine. We’d always forget to apply the stuff until it was too late. This looks like a great product to help those who forget like I do!

It is so expensive but I want to protect him and give him his heart worm meds too. Thanks I will check this out with my vet.
