The concept of this 4th Of July Cookie Pops also known as Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treats, are not new to this blog.   Check out our post that includes a step by step tutorial of making chocolate covered Rice Krispy treats.

We have decided to update our photos for this post and create a few more 4th of July rice Krispy treats after we found a fun box of red white and blue cereal.  We not only remade our chocolate covered rice krispy pops but made some additional festive desserts for the American Holidays.

I actually made these for our Memorial Day BBQ and had not had time to blog about them so I thought I would time this with Fourth of July. These made great party favors for the kids and you can make them a few days ahead of time, just keep them in a cool spot.

Make the traditional recipe of how to make Rice Krispy treats on the box and if you don’t have a circle cookie cutter use a lid from a jar.

I learned that if you wait for them to harden and then push a lollipop stick with chocolate at the tip it is less messy and they tend to stay in better. I also used the double boiler method to keep the chocolate melted. Just keep checking it and do not let any water into your chocolate.

You can either melt colored chocolate add them to a squeeze bottle or melt the colored discs into a ziplock bags.  The bottles take more effort but I think the swirls were neater this way.

To display your 4th of July Rice Krispy Treat Pops filled a jar with colored candies as the holder. You will need more candy than you think to keep them standing. Makes a great table topper!!

With the leftover rice crispie treats in the pan, we decided to try two more fun 4th of July dessert ideas.

We made Rice Crispy Balls and Rice Krispy Treat Flags.
