18 St Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Tricks

St Patrick’s Day is not just about the Green Food or Rainbow Crafts, it is about those silly Irish Leprechauns.

Does your house ever see leprechaun tricks? A few years ago our Family Fun Magazine had ideas for leprechaun Traps. The kids searched through the ideas and decided on this one.

The leprechaun is a creature that is famous for its tricks. It is said that the leprechauns are very clever and can do magic tricks. They are also known as the little people of Ireland.

The origin of the leprechauns has not been found out yet but it has been said that they were created by a fairy. There are different types of leprechauns such as black, brown, green and white ones. They all have different powers and skills to show off so why not try to catch one!

We made some gold pieces out of candy wrappers and instead of a wooden ladder we used one from a toy fire truck. The kids were quite surprised when they woke up and found that the tricky leprechaun had been to the trap but escaped.

St Patrick Leprechaun Tricks

Here are a few other fun tricks we share every St. Pat’s Day that your kids might enjoy as well. All you need is some green food dye, a green marker, and sleeping children!!

1. CHANGE THE MILK COLOR

A few days before St. Patrick’s Day, I observe the milk carton and when I am close to the end, I open another carton. I save the almost empty one to add green food dye the night before so the kids will be served green milk on st. pat’s morning.

2.DYE TO TOILET BOWL

We also leave some green food dye in the toilet bowl. I love the addition of the foot prints on this photo.

4. DYE THE BATHTUB GREEN

Place a green fizzy bath drops inside the bathtub faucet so the water turns green as you fill the bathtub.

5. MOVE THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE

To show off the mischief of the leprechaun,  many objects are misplaced and upside down in the house as well.

6. LUCKY CHARMS

Leave out a bowl of Lucky charms or sprinkles where the leprechaun walked near your trap

7. Leprechaun Mustache Prank

If you have a heavy sleeper, draw a green or black leprechaun mustache on their upper lip with a washable face paint stick or kid-friendly makeup. Or, stick a fake mustache on their lip!

8. SPIKE YOUR KIDS CEREAL BOWLS… MILK CHANGING TRICK

Ok, not the spiking you are thinking of. Add a few dots of food coloring to the bottom of a cereal bowl, add cereal to milk. The milk will turn green while they are eating.

9. THE OLD OREO SWAP

Replace all of your Oreos with green filled Oreos.

10. HAVE THE LEPRECHAUN LEAVE A KISS

Lastly, if I know the kids have been asleep for a while, I leave a little green marker mark on their face or hands and say the leprechaun has left you with a kiss.

And Make sure your little leprechauns are dressed for the occasion.

11. Cereal Switcheroo

Similar to what we do for April’s Fools Day Popcorn Trick  Switch the bags of cereal inside the cereal boxes. When they pour out their cereal in the morning, they will be surprised that it doesn’t match what’s on the box!

12. Leprechaun Tracks to Treasure

Grab these Leprechaun footprints and use them make tracks throughout the house to a “pot of gold” filled with gold chocolate coins or other St. Patrick’s Day treats.

Another option is to use green washable paint to create little leprechaun footprints leading from the door to a small surprise or treat.

Leave behind mysterious messages or riddles written in green ink or using a special invisible ink that can only be revealed with a UV light, adding an extra layer of mystery to the leprechaun’s visit.

14 Green Food Surprise:

Sneak green food coloring into their breakfast items, like pancakes, milk, or scrambled eggs, for a surprise St. Patrick’s Day breakfast. Here are some Green Food recipes for you to try this St Patrick’s Day
