When at the grocery store this week, I saw a new product in the refrigerated cheese section, Kraft’s Fresh Take. Basically Kraft’s version of Shake and Bake. They come in a variety of flavors to choose from. I could not resist, they were 2 for $5 and there was a $1 off coupon dispenser right next to the product. For $1.50 I was promised a super quick change to a otherwise boring chicken dinner.
I chose the Southwest Three Cheese Recipe.
You can see the directions right here, mix, coat and bake. I made 5 breasts and had plenty mix left over. One of the best features of this product is, the ingredients are packaged in the bag you will shake your meat in, so no mess or extra clean up!
Ready for the oven in the time it preheated. I cut up some small potatoes and put them on a sheet pan with some olive oil and salt to put into the oven at the same time.
Dinner in no time and no effort. Steamed some sugar snap peas I had for the veggie.
I loved the browned bits that were on the bottom of the dish.
This was a little spicy for even my initial bite. The kids ate it and said it tasted like cheese with taco seasoning added to it. I served it with a dollop of sour cream and some fruit salsa I had on hand. It mellowed the spiciness.
Next time you are looking for a super quick meal and lost for ideas, grab one of these Fresh Takes for a pleasant surprise. There was a $1 off coupon in my Sunday Paper today too!
I was NOT given this product to review, all the opinions are my own and thought us busy folks could use this review!!

It does sound good. I think I’m going to try to make something similar.
Looks delicious! I have to try this. Yum!
Kraft actually owns Shake n Bake too. I think it is cool though that they are kind of reinventing it and making new options for busy moms.
thanks for the heads up, never really looked that up!!! Shake and bake seems sooo 80s
I haven’t seen that yet. Looks yummy! And any way to make dull chicken different in a simple way sounds good to me!

I’m glad you did a review! I’ve seen the commercials and didn’t know what to think of it. Looks VERY easy. =)
What?! This is not a sponsored post or a review in return for free product? What a concept! Applause!
Thanks for the review! I saw these advertised and then saw them again in the store today. I was undecided as to whether or not to try them. Now I think I will!
I found your blog through the blogger comment club. Thanks for letting me visit.
I am going to have to give this a try. My husband has been looking for a good ‘fried’ chicken recipe like this.
Thanks for sharing!
Looks yummy and convenient for a busy week.
This looks amazing!! I love coating my chicken and it looks super easy =)
That looks absolutely delicious and so convenient. I bet it will take some time to get it in Canada, but I will be looking for it nest time I am shopping across the line.
I’ve never seen this product in the store. I love that it comes with every thing needed (excluding the chicken of course). I’ll have to keep my eye out next time I go to the store. I love spicy
I like the words NO and LITTLE effort!!! haha. I will definitely have to try this!!! Seems my hands are always full, and my time always slips away.
I bought a pack but have not tried it yet. looks great. Easy dinners are always good!
I really like this – and I would love the spice!
Thanks for this-I have been meaning to try this for a while now! You have given me the little push I needed!
Thanks for the tips – a complete meal that I would actually make (no call for lemon zest, a pheasant roaster, or a vegetable that I’ve never heard of). And I appreciate the suggestions for taming down the spice – I have some kids that love it, but one that thinks Sprite is too spicy!
This was not the sort of thing I should read just before lunch. Now that I have done, I will need to restrain myself when I wander into the lunch room, because now, NOW, I’m hungry.
But that did look good.
I have been wondering about this – thanks so much for posting your opinions! Looks like we’ll have to try out! I also really likes your tips for mellowing out the spices – with kids that’s so important sometimes.
